Woman found dead in Sainte-Catherine, south of Montreal

The body of a woman was discovered in Sainte-Catherine, south of Montreal, in the Montérégie, early Sunday morning.

Reports are that the body showed signs of violence and the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is investigating.

At around 2 a.m., police officers from the Régie intermunicipale de police Roussillon were called to a residence on Union Street in Sainte-Catherine.

That’s when they found the lifeless body and the woman was pronounced dead on the scene.

Circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear.

An individual was arrested and taken to hospital. He will be interviewed by investigators when his condition permits.

Investigators from the SQ’s Crimes Against the Person Division have taken over the case, in close collaboration with Roussillon police.
