Child rushed to hospital after being hit by car in St-Léonard

Montreal police were investigating a collision between a child on an electric scooter and a car in St-Léonard borough on Tuesday.

Police said the collision occurred around 11:50 a.m. at the corner of Viau and Métropolitain Blvds. and that the child, whose age was not immediately available, had been seriously injured.

Police spokesperson Véronique Dubuc said the victim, who was injured in the upper body, was conscious and transported to a hospital.

“We have obtained confirmation from medical authorities that the child’s life is not in danger,” she said in the afternoon.

The driver, a 57-year-old woman, suffered shock, Dubuc said.

According to witnesses, she added, the child was heading east on Métropolitain, using a pedestrian crossing to cross Viau. The vehicle was also heading east on Métropolitain and was making a right turn onto Viau when the collision occurred.
