The Île-aux-Tourtes Bridge will be completely closed the weekend of May 24, the Ministry of Transportion says, as it changes the configuration of bridge approaches and sets up a reversible lane on the span.
When the bridge re-opens on May 27, it will have “dynamic” traffic management, the ministry said in a news release Monday, with the middle lane carrying Montreal-bound traffic early in the day and switching directions to carry vehicles heading to Vaudreuil-Dorion in the afternoon and evening.

Currently, two lanes are available for traffic bound for Vaudreuil-Dorion and one for people heading toward Montreal.
The ministry says the approaches to the bridge on Highway 40 are also being reconfigured to maintain two lanes in each direction between Anciens-Combattants Blvd. and the bridge, and between the bridge and Exit 35.
The right lane of Highway 40 in the direction of Montreal will be reserved exclusively for Exit 35, it said.
The ministry said the changes are possible because work on the bridge is progressing and workers need less space.
It said that until other lanes open, improved train service will continue to be offered. That includes more than 300 temporary parking spots near the Vaudreuil train station and bus terminus.
Certain free train and bus services will continue to be offered next week, the ministry said, however, public transit users in the area will have to start buying tickets on June 3, though they will receive a 25 per cent discount on 10-ticket packages.
The toll on Highway 30, which is currently suspended in the morning for drivers heading east, is scheduled to be re-imposed on May 27.
The ministry said it plans to open all lanes on the current bridge by autumn and to have five lanes open on a new bridge by the end of 2026. By the end of 2027, two new structures with a total of six lanes are scheduled to open.
However, the ministry said Highway 40, including the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge, will be completely closed several more weekends between now and the end of the summer.
