Laval police seek woman they believe preys on older adults

Laval police have turned to the public for help in tracking down a suspect in nearly a dozen frauds committed since April against the city’s elderly residents.

They believe the woman, between 20 and 25 years old, specializes in the “fake bank rep” scam and, using the names Simon Blais or Simon Cloutier, first calls her victims on the telephone claiming she is a bank representative and that their bank card has been compromised.

Once she has gained the victim’s confidence and the personal identification number for their bank card, police say she shows up at the victim’s home as an “investigator” named Jessica Blais to collect the victim’s bank cards.

Within minutes of that visit, the victim’s cards are used to make fraudulent purchases or withdrawals.

The woman being sought speaks French and, and when captured on a surveillance camera, had long blonde hair tied in a bun and was wearing a white top, black pants and Nike running shoes.

Anyone with any information that could identify the suspect or further the investigation is urged to call the Laval police tip line at 450-662-4636 or 911 and mention file LVL-240416-053.
