Montreal police have turned to the public in an effort to determine whether there are more young victims connected with a 41-year-old sexual assault suspect. They believe the assaults took place over at least 12 years.

Michaël Michaud was arrested July 3 and faces multiple counts of sexual assault and possession of child pornography. Investigators allege the offences were committed between 2011 and 2023 in Montreal, Laval, Ste-Agathe-des-Monts, Île-Perrot, Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, St-Clet and St-Polycarpe.

Police allege that Michaud would gain the trust and friendship of the families of his victims, offering to work as a babysitter or mentor, then commit the offences once he was alone with the children.

Because of the time frame of the alleged offences, police have issued three photographs of Michaud depicting his appearance over the course of the years. He is a white francophone who stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs about 220 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone who believes they were a victim or knows someone who might have been is urged to call Montreal police directly at 514-280-8502; call 911 to file a formal complaint; contact their local police or, if they wish to provide information anonymously, call Info-Crime Montreal at 514-393-1133.
