Montreal to test emergency siren system on Wednesday, May 8

The city of Montreal announced on Monday it will carry out its annual test of its emergency siren system on Wednesday, May 8, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

The tests will be conducted at the following sites:

Boeuf Mérité, Metro Richelieu, 11701 Albert-Hudon Blvd., Montreal. Sirens will be heard in the boroughs of Montreal North and Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles.

Dural-Multibond, 550 Marshall Ave. in  Dorval. Sirens will be heard in Dorval.

Les entreposages frigorifique Total, 7500 Minicut St. in Anjou. Sirens will be heard in Anjou.

Entreprise Indorama PTA Montréal, 10200 Sherbrooke St. E. in Montreal East. Sirens will be heard in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and the city of Montreal East.

Labatt Brasserie Québec, 50 Labatt St., Montreal. Sirens will be heard in the boroughs of Lachine and LaSalle.

Lactalis Canada (formerly Parmalat Canada), 7470 St-Jacques St. in Montreal. Sirens will be heard in the boroughs of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, Lachine, LaSalle, Sud-Ouest and the cities of Côte-St-Luc and Montreal West.

Pêcheries Atlantiques du Québec, Metro Richelieu, 3785 François-Bricault St. in Montreal. Sirens will be heard in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles.

Saputo Produits Laitiers Canada, 2365 Côte-de-Liesse Rd. in Montreal (St-Laurent). Sirens will be heard in the boroughs of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, St-Laurent and Town of Mount Royal.

Saputo Produits Laitiers Canada, 7750 Pascal-Gagnon St. in Montreal (St-Léonard). Sirens will be heard in the boroughs of Anjou, Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve and St-Léonard.

Produits Suncor Énergie, 11450 Cherrier St. in Montreal East. Sirens will be heard in the borough of Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles and the city of Montreal East.

The siren tests are held to help people living near the factories understand how to protect themselves in the case of an industrial accident. It is also a way of making sure that all equipment is working properly and that all emergency responders are in a state of readiness. Residents are notified in advance that the test will take place.
