It’s a collaboration between the bike-share service and Tangerine, which is the official sponsor of Bixi’s fleet of electric bikes.

“The offer aims to create excitement for the summer bike season, as well as provide an efficient and effective solution to escape the hassle of commuting around the city, so that you can squeeze the most out of your summer,” a public relations representative said in an emailed statement.

To benefit from the offer, riders can download the Bixi app and choose the free Tangerine one-way pass.

Rides that extend beyond the allotted timeframes will be charged 20 cents per minute for regular bikes and 35 cents per minute for electric ones.

This spring marked the bike-share’s earliest season debut in its 15-year history, following a successful pilot project to keep the bikes rolling through the winter. Some of the Bixi fleet was made available two weeks prior to the usual April 15 start date.
