Seven St-Léonard minors accused of arson, discharging firearms, extortion and theft were arrested Oct. 3, Montreal police said Wednesday. They say the minors, ages 14 to 17, were part of a criminal group and had been hiding out illegally on vacant commercial premises on Jean-Talon St. E. since mid-June.

Two people, ages 16 and 20, alleged to be part of the group are still at large, police said.

The group is alleged to have committed several crimes since mid-June.

A police spokesperson said the nine suspects are the only members of the group known to police, but “there might be other people involved.”

She declined to say whether the two suspects still at large pose a danger to the public, saying only that the crimes they’re accused of committing are “serious.”

Of the seven arrested suspects, four had previously served time in detention for past convictions.
