Montreal police are investigating after shots were fired Thursday night toward a beauty salon where the daughter-in-law of a former Mafia leader was killed last year.

According to police, a 911 call reported the shots around 7:25 p.m. at the salon near the intersection of Jean-Talon W. and de la Savane Sts. in Côte-des-Neiges.

The salon was open at the time, but no one was injured, police said.

“Officers found at least one shell on the ground and at least one bullet impact on the building,” said police spokesperson Sabrina Gauthier, adding investigators will be checking security cameras.

Claudia Iacono, 39, was shot and killed in broad daylight in the salon’s parking lot in May of last year.

Iacono was the daughter-in-law of Moreno Gallo, an influential figure on the Calabrian side of the Montreal Mafia before he was killed in Mexico a decade ago.

Two suspects from Ontario  —  Joel Richard Clarke and Tyranne Andre Greenidge  —  have since been arrested and charged with first-degree murder in Iacono’s killing.
