Time Out makes no mention of all the bridal boutiques for some reason, focusing instead on how the street is “a Latin enclave and hipster hotspot.”

It also credits the plaza’s glass awnings with “making it ripe for exploring whatever the season.” Is that really how winter works? (Also multiple of the spots Time Out highlights on St-Hubert aren’t on the part of the street that are covered.)

One of the two activities Time Out suggests — the Quilles G Plus bowling alley — is not on St-Hubert.

In addition to being an annual head-scratcher, Time Out’s list of the world’s coolest streets is not always a blessing for small businesses in the highlighted areas.

One year after topping the publication’s ranking, some merchants on Wellington St. said they were struggling with soaring rents while others had already closed.

“There are landlords who want to surf on Wellington St.’s reputation,” La Tienda owner Anne St-Hilaire told the Gazette in 2023. She has since moved her business to Verdun St.

Here’s hoping St-Hubert Plaza fares better.
