A 31-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with a hit and run on a police patrol car in the Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie borough on Monday.

Montreal police said the driver deliberately drove into the car to flee a police interception near Masson St. and 18th Ave. around 3 p.m.

The getaway car was located on Baudelaire St. in the St-Léonard borough following an investigation involving multiple units within the SPVM. The suspect was arrested around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday while walking along Sherbrooke St. in Mercier—Hochelaga—Maisonneuve.

He will appear Wednesday at the Montreal courthouse facing charges of armed assault, dangerous driving, fleeing the scene, theft of more than $5,000, receiving stolen goods and possession of substances with the intent of trafficking.

“The SPVM is taking this opportunity to remind people that attacking police officers is simply unacceptable,” the force said in a statement. “Such acts will not be tolerated in our society. People who commit them will be arrested and held accountable for their actions.”
