Laval police on Wednesday announced they had arrested two minors in connection with a pepper spray attack at a local McDonald’s restaurant last January.

The suspects, whose ages were not made public, were arrested Aug. 1 and have appeared in court to face charges of armed assault, mischief and using a weapon for a dangerous purpose. They were released on conditions pending their next court appearance on Sept. 16.

The arrests follow an armed assault that took place around 4:50 p.m. on Jan. 24 at the McDonald’s restaurant on Saint-Martin Blvd. W.

Four persons entered the restaurant and targeted a man with pepper spray. However the airborne irritant also injured dozens of other restaurant patrons, many of them children, all of whom had to be decontaminated by Urgences-Santé first responders. The suspects fled before the arrival of police.

A subsequent investigation allowed police to identify two of the suspects, both of them younger than 18.

Laval police are urging anyone with any information on this or any other crime of violence to call their information line at 450-662-4636 or 911.
